LS is the base model
LT is the premium model

The main difference is in the standard options (oxymoron I know), but there are also differences in what options you can get for a particular model. An LS could not be ordered with a sunroof for instance. An original dealer sales brochure would detail all of these items.

PW == Power Windows
PDL == Power Door Locks
PS == Power Steering

Here in New Zealand (we get our Blazers from Japan) The LS has cloth trim, no sunroof, the LT has the sun roof & leather trim (& some come with a bed!).

By the way, we have a member in Istanbul- look him up in the members list. Name is burak sozer.
He has had hisBlazer for a while now & can tell you lots about Blazers in Turkey. Just send him a PM in casehe does not see this post.

LS and LT have different dimensions. In the back of the owners manual there are 4 different models. S10516, T10516, S10506 and T10506. The wheel base on the S10516 and T10516 is 100.5 inches (255.3cm) and the S10506 and T10506 have a wheelbase of 107.0 inches (271.8cm). Each model also has a different height. The S10516 is 66.0 inches tall (167.6cm), the T10516 is 66.9 inches (170.0cm), the S10506 is 65.9 inches tall (167.4cm), and the T10506 is 67.0 inches tall (170.2cm). So some can differ in size. I got this from the 1996 Blazer owners manual. You can check the specific model number in the driver side door, along with the tire pressure, year it was made ect. But the main difference is inside. LT has leather, LS is cloth, different sound system, basically the interior stuff. But most of the mechanical stuff is the same.

Not every LT has leather.

The LS & LT trim levels have nothing to do with the dimensions of the vehicle. [ul][*]S10516 = 2dr 2wd[*]S10506 = 4dr 2wd[*]T10516 = 2dr 4wd[*]T10506 = 4dr 4wd[/ul]Any one of those four basic platforms can have the LS or LT trim level.

A 2dr has a wheel base of 100.5" and a 4dr of 107.0". The overall height difference between 2wd and 4wd, comparing like # of doors, can be attributed to suspension differences and larger standard tires.

As far as getting into the nitty-gritty of what was standard and what options were available in each trim level, well that varies year to year. For instance, you could not get the premium sound system in an LS (unless you special order it anyway), but even though the premium sound was offered in the LT, it is not standard. You really need the dealer brochure to know exactly.

What Kyle (swartlkk) said... Also, I happen to own a `96 LS, and I love it! The only pet peeve I have about Blazers is the fact that you can`t get a manual transmission in a four-door, unless you install it yourself. Otherwise, it`s a soundly built truck that is fun to drive and pretty easy to modify.

My LS does not have any body or bumper moldings, and I like it that way, because IMO it gives the truck a cleaner look. I think this may be a difference, because I have seen other `96es that have the moldings. What I don`t know is whether this difference is specific to the LT models.

My LS has wider fender flares than the US models. It seems that only the Japanese vehicles had this. Maybe Europe I'm not sure.

By the way dagger did you get hold of Burak Sozer?
