Replacing original fan for an elec.
OK so whats the best one to use? Should I find one out of a wrecked camaro? LMC has one but it doesn't look all that great. Any ideas would be great!
Thanks,
Paul

Whatever fits, just wire it up with a thermostatic control so it is not on all the time (negating any perceived benefits). I will be adding one to my K5 shortly as it is a direct drive fan right now. I will use an add-on thermostatic control (there are a few on summitracing.com) to turn on the fans when the radiator reaches a certain temp.

How effective are electrics over direct drive in regions frequently over 120 degrees?

The reason that I will be moving to an electric fan on my K5 is because the 3" BL has caused the stock shroud/fan alignment to be 3" off (fan is 3" lower than the original position). So rather than screw around making up another shroud, I will put in an electric fan from the junkyard and then put in a thermostat control. I do not have A/C to worry about either though.
With A/C, to keep performance proper, any electric fan setup should turn on (on high if two speed) whenever the compressor is engaged.

I have them on my 1992 Camaro (swapped from 3.1 to 350) and they work great! 2 12" fans and a thermostatic control. Even in 100* weather idling, the car stays at 180*-190*with no overheating.
