Default Ticking in engine

I have a 1996 blazer 4.3L.The nproblem I am have is the engine ticks farely loud after I start it.As I drive it or let it idle the ticking slowly goes away.Driving me nuts..Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds to me like a collapsed lifter, or one thats starting to get very weak.. Replacement would be the best option.. it wont get better...it`ll just get worse and cause more eng damage.. How often do you change the oil? and what weight oil are you using? In colder weather ya wanna use a thinner oil 5w-30 in hotter weather you can go to 20w-50

I use 5w30 and am due for a oil change.Will try that and go from there.

try putting an oil additive in it like marvel mystery oil or sumtin like that.. Someone here may have a diff suggestion on that one..theres plenty of them out there but thats the one i use and have no problems with it..
