you should do a search.
the search function is on the top centered and slightly right.
type in things like 'what oil are you using' 'what oil' 'the brand name' and such you will find answers.

Heck you could just ask it here since you've already got a thread going.. I'm sure a mod or admin will move it if need be.

Amsoil is a high quality and expensive synthetic oil. The 4.3L engines are not at all picky about their oil and any name brand oil, dino or synthetic, will work just fine in them. If you wish to use Amsoil, you will have no problems with it.

I have used 0w 30w Amsoil for the past couple of years in my 97.
It is probably like Rriddle3 stated. It is mostly personal choice.
I have found no problems with Amsoil and feel great having it
inside my 97. I also live in Illinois. I have no garage and knowing
the weather here, it has never failed starting in 35 below wind chill weather.
I went totally synthetic with all fluids. I think it helps, but it is just my opinion.
Having your car properly tuned up is probably more important.
