What to do/check first
Hi all! I've just got my first Blazer, a 1999 UK spec RHD version, checked out all the obvious things, but what should I look out for mechanicallyand otherwise (trim, bodywork etc.) Blazers are quite rare here and I've always had Grand Cherokees before so any advice or info would be welcome.
Thanks..
Thanks..

RE: What to do/check first
Welcome to the forum from another '99 RHD Blazer owner.
I'm in New Zealand. My Blazer (built in NJ USA) hails from Japan.
Check out the thread further down about the common annoying things about Blazers but, don't despair, I'm sure they're no different from most other makes. Also bear in mind that a majority of USA / Canadian Blazers have very high mileage. Particularly with the '99 & earlier models.
Only issues to be aware of is the fact that being RHD you are bound to have the odd hiccup sourcing parts but, Blazers are big in the US & most parts should be easily available - bar the RHD components i.e. steering, front suspension, dash & related components. Being in the UK & with Chevy dealership representation I assume even these may not be too much an issue. Here in New Zealand, there is no Chevy dealership & all Blazers come from Japan so sourcing of spares &accessories IS a big issue. As is repair & serviceing.
Otherwise it's a great truck & I am enjoying it. Much better when I get the 4x4 to work of course. But that's another issue! (Transfer case appears to havebeen abused by previous ownerin Japan).
By the way, my previous 4x4 was also aGrand Cherokee. (1999)
Also, there are a number of UK owners registered on this site. Maybe one of them will respond.

Hi, Thanks for the info, the first job I need to get done is an LPG conversion, I don't know if that's ever done in NZ, but I know the Americans have never heard of it ! My jeep ran on LPG fine, I hope the Blazer will too.

LPG conversions have been a way of life in New Zealand since the '80's. In fact Ford Australia specially build a Falcon primarily for the taxi market. With petrol prices so high at the moment used car yards who still have imported Blazers in stock are now converting to dual fuel to shift them. There is a guy in the UK who bought a Blazer & was going to do the conversion - sadly, he's not come back online with a report back.

RE: What to do/check first
I've just found a local LPG conversion specialist who can do the job for just over £1000, I'll report back once it's done in the next few weeks. I'm going to run on petrol for a few weeks though (£££££!!) just to check everything is OK with the engine as any running faults show up worse on LPG.

Wow... pretty interesting reading guys. Is the drivetrain on ya'lls blazers the same as the one'swe have here? Iwas wondering ifa diesel was an overseas option. Ihave always thought thata 4 cylinder turbo diesel would be a cool powerplant for a 4x4 blazer.

Only difference is steering wheel is on the other side! lol All Blazers in New Zealand are ex Japan (built in New Jersey) & I assume all UK Blazers would be pretty much the same.
Engine, drivetrain etc all the same. No diesel option I know of - would love one. The Isuzu Bighorn (4x4) has a turbo diesel but that's the nearest GM product to the Blazer - Maybe it could fit!
Other than dash layout there are small minor differences such aslarger fender flares, power folding mirrors, turn signals on front fenders & maybe some I've not yet realized.

Isuzu Bighorn eh? If I ever run across a 4 cyl turbo diesel that I can adapt into my blazer, I will give it a try. The biggest problem is making the computer still work. Thanks for the info,I hope to read more from you guys!
