IAC valve

IAC valve
OK, so I'm still trying to figure out the mystery behind my bad idle, which is now getting worse to the point of dying if I have to sit in traffic too long. Am wondering about the IAC valve, since I was told to check and see what happens when I turn on the A/C....sure enough, the idle does not compensate and dies. Blazer runs great when driving, it's just the idle that is driving me crazy. Is it worth getting it replaced to see if that is the problem? Or are there any other ways to check and see before taking it to my mechanic if that is the culprit? Can't find any vacuum leaks, and have checked it MANY times. No codes or trouble lights so I have nothing to go on....Thanks!

RE: IAC valve
If I remember correctly from one of my other chevys.. that IAC valve is NOT expensive and if its never been changed then it might just be your culpret! I would change it out.. .see if it helps. you can always return it if not. and i've change one, was easy enough.

RE: IAC valve
It's about $60 at AZ, but that's far cheaper than most of the other things that I've tried replacing! Think I'll give that a try unless anyone has a better suggestion...Thanks Dory![sm=thanx.gif]

RE: IAC valve
You should try pulling the TB apart and cleaning everything first. At most, you may need a new tb gasket at that point. If you still have an idle problem after that, then possibly replace the IAC valve.

RE: IAC valve
Thanks for the info. If it ever decides to NOT rain on the weekend I could work on this!!

RE: IAC valve
Thanks for all the help....replaced the air filter, PCV valve, and took off the IAC and cleaned it good (it was coated with carbon) and now the Blazer runs MUCH better!! Glad you guys are here to help us non-car people out....[sm=bounceybounce.gif]
