Where to cut the tip

Where to cut the tip
I plan on getting a new exhaust tip in about a day or so. So I was wondering where I should cut the tip.
It bends down at the bottom, but just before that it looks as if it gets slightly wider, and slightly skinnier in places. It also looks like it levels out at one point, before dipping slightly down. Will it really matter where I cut it, as long as it fits?
Also, more importantly, I remember reading on here that the pipe should be 2.5". Is this correct?
My pic is on the bottom. I was going to edit in a red line to show where I thought to cut it, but my paint program seems to have disappeared.

Where you cut it will determine the angle that the tip is at. Cutting it up further where it flattens out will make the tip tuck up near the body better. You may have to massage the pipe back into a round shape to fit inside the tip due to the crimp bent nature of the tailpipe.
As far as the pipe size... I think it is 2.25" back there. Just measure it before you get your tip.

Alright, thanks for the help.
I thought it did look closer to 2.25, but thought I had heard 2.5.
