problems after changing my guage cluster 98 blazer
ok some of you are gunna think im dumb but i dont care im trying to fix the problem, well i thought i could just change the face of my gauge cluster to white instead of black, i carefully pulled off the needles and i did everything right but for some reason nothing works on my cluster, so i went and i called around for another same year blazer with automatic, tack, and shifter on the column no junk yard had one so i thought i could just use a 99 blazer automatic, with tack, and shifter on the column and i found one so i installed it and the voltage, speedo works, and tack works and the milage doesnt work or gas gauge doesnt work, or oil pressure, or temp gauge doesnt work so i thought i had a loose ground or something inside was messed up so i tried it on my friends 99 blazer and it workes great. so why doesnt it work on my blazer?

Among other things: You need to make sure the needles are sitting where they should, If they get flopped up (like to full) they wont reset themselves. shake the cluster till all needles sit at empty/0rpms/0mph. hope it helps.
If you actually removed the needles then its a whole nother story.

yeah thats the problem i actaully removed the needles thinking if i just pop them back to where they were it would be ok but no, so i bought a different cluster out of a 99 blazer thinking it would work and just the speedo and tack and battery gauge works. so im not sure what to do.

98 vehicles are not compatible with 99+ clusters. I tried this myself when my odometer stopped working. The new one had an inaccurate tach, fuel/oil gauge didn't work, and the odometer/PRND321 only worked when you clicked the key forward one slot.
You must find a cluster from a 1998 model. Apparently the internal electronics are different somehow.
