Default Battery

Do have to use a side terminal battery or will the leads reach top mounted, any clues?

my 93 i was able to ditch the side posts and put a top mount battery in there. the cables barely reached but they did. thats probably your best way of testing it, take the terminals off and try to stretch them to the top

I doubt the factory cables will reach, but don't know for sure. If you want to change to top mount, just do the big 3 upgrade and make the cables a little longer...

You could get a dual terminal battery and use the sides for the factory wires and the top for other things like jump starts etc.

They had enough slack to do a top post on my 93.

I've been using a dual post since I got a winch. Not sure if there is a price difference or not.

There should be enough slack to use just a top post. I've got a body lift on my Blazer and the side terminals still work, though very little slack left.

There should definitely be enough slack for a top post battery.
There is more than enough on my 93 after I changed over to top post.
