Easiest tap into accessory power
Hey, 2005 Blazer 2 door here.
I need to run a remote power wire to my amp so that it's not always on. Where is the easiest place to tap into an accessory circuit? I just finished putting the dash back together and would prefer not to open it up again if there's an easier option.
Thanks!

Well i ran the power wire from my led's to a fuse holder in my fuse block in the side of my dash. It was for one of the accessories i didn't have and i just plugged a terminal connector in the plug through a fuse and then to my switch and then from the switch to the front of the car. Mine is a 95, im assuming you have the fuse block in your dash. So they only have power when the car is in run or accessory. There ya go, if you need it i can post a pic of it.

Its been a couple months but i am almost positive i stuck a small length of solid copper wire into the power side of the fuse holder, then ran the other end of it to a section of stranded wire. i crimped the wire between them, only since it was inside the car and not exposed to the elements and then ran a connector to a regular fuse and then off to my switch. here is a pic
although i forgot that you may be using a high gauge wire, if so this might be a little difficult for you. What gauge wire are you using? Depending on if it is too big to do this, i think i know how you can use a relay to do it for bigger wire too.

Thanks for your help! It worked perfectly. I found the easiest way to connect the wire to the fuse box with a sturdy connection was to insert the wire into the bottom of the specific fuse slot (on the side that would be protected by the fuse), and then insert the fuse so that it pushes the wire against the inside of the slot and creates a very snug fit.
I used fuse #9 if I remember correctly, which was for the HVAC system. When the car turns off, the power turns off on the amp. Perfect!
Now to hide some cables and we're done. The system sounds fantastic.
Cheers
