hey im wondering what the computer behind the cigg ashtrey on the dash does. i have a 2000 gmc jimmy and i see a small computer behind the dash with 3 harnesses attached to it

 

I have an ignition problem with my 2001, it hiccups sometimes and is hard to start when I'm running errands and restarting it frequently. Still trying to figure it out. When it's warm it doesn't want to restart the first try. I try to restart in short cranking intervals and before the third try I hear a clicking under the dash. Then I try again and it starts right up and runs fine. I'm thinking it's the ignition control module.
