Massive Electrical Issue
#11
Dash lights being on makes me think that the ignition switch may be fried inside. You can check out the link in my signature for more information on the ignition switch. They typically fail due to burnt connections that do not pass current, but you may have a situation where the contacts have fused together.

What the actual you-know-what ...
Decided to run one last test with scanner before it got dark. Inserted the IGN B fuse ... and no noise from the alternator. Thinking battery has drained again even with the one fuse removed I check battery connections, tight, open door and interior lights go on as normal, no service engine light, things look normal.
Insert key, turn to 'on', everything behaving normal. Fuel pump priming, dash lights as should be so I decide to try a start. Normal cranking but no start. Try again, no start. Try again, no start. Yes, there is gas in tank.
Figure f-it for the night and close up hood when I notice I failed to reconnect the wire to the whatever it is small cannister attached to intake manifold directly in front of throttle body after replacing alternator so I hook it back up, try again to start, cranks but still nothing.
Think I smell gas under hood? Maybe it won't start with that wire removed and is flooded?
On the up side this has to be the easiest alternator to replace.
On the down side the battery in my truck went bad so new one on the way. The battery on my phone died while talking to my parts guy too.
Thanks for the information on the switch, was Bing-ing more info about that when I decided to run my last test of the day.
So we'll see what happens in the morning.

What-the-actual-you-know-what continued.
Just walked through my kitchen only to see all the exterior lights on the Blazer lit up. Whine from the back of the alternator, yada, yada, yada.
Tried to see if it would start, cranked and cranked but no fire. Def smell gas under the hood.
Pulled the IGN B fuse for the night n charging up the new battery.

Thanls for the tip. I've let the Blazer set since my last post, half because I have other things to do and half because my truck was having problems too. Truck problems ez fix so did those before Blazer.
I was thinking the same thing about looking 'inside' the fuse box. I remember a year ago I had been working on something and had the box open so I could remove a fuse when a flash rain hit and the open box got wet, I had some goofy things happening right after that that cleared up when the box apparantly dried out. Couldn't hurt to have a look to see if anything is going on in there.
I'm still taking advice!
