Default P0719 is it hard to do?

Is the brake switch hard to replace in these trucks? I have a 97 bravada and its giving me that error code the tcc wont engage and who ever owned the truck before me I think pulled the thermostat to keep forth gear from stopping as it over cools big time. At least that's what I have been reading that it can do. So yeah my main question is, can i do it myself or is it something horrible hard that i shouldn't even try myself? Once again thatnk you!!

If the brake switch is like my 1st gen, just pull it out,put the new one in. I THINK you have to find the sweet spot that so that when your not pressing the brakes the brake lights wont stay on for the little light switch. get a friend to watch the lights and slowly back off the switch in the hole (you'll see what i mean) so that its close to the brake pedal, but not pressing the switch button. Alot of people dont think about it and then wonder why the brake lights dont turn off.

for the tcc thing, you need to put a new stat in. thats going to cause all sorts of issues later, like bad fuel mileage, fouled plugs etc. That may not fix the trans issue though.

Not sure on how its exactly tied in on the 2nd gens, but like on the 700r4's the tcc power is cut when you press the brake switch and then reapplied when you let off the brakes if it needs to go into 4th. I guess the 4l60s are still the same. Must be a reason though they pulled. you shall know in short time. Glad its working for now though
