Parking brake light will not turn on... ('01 Chevy Blazer)
I have a 2001 Chevy Blazer 2WD, and for the past few months, my parking brake light will not turn on, so sometimes I forget if I had it on or i accidentally put the brake on, and then I start driving, which has caused horrible damage to my brake pads and rotors. Honestly, I'm a girl so I don't know much about cars, but if anyone has had experience with this, that'd be great if you could help. Thanks.

Well the simplest thing could be.......just a burnt out bulb in the instrument cluster. It's the one right above the 60km mark on the speedo. Then again, if it's a bigger problem like mine................where some previous idiot desoldered the ABS light to keep it from being on all the time, when they pulled the ABS fuse to disable it. Problem is........it's on the same circuit as the PB light, so now THAT won't work. As for the fix?.........replacing the whole instrument cluster, says my mechanic. Since they destroyed the circuitry when disabling that ABS bulb. When a piece of black electrical tape could have been much easier, and not ruined my cluster!? I'm seriously pissed about that. So I had another bulb added under the PB lever, in amber. Looks pretty cool. But I'm about to drill a small hole through the handle right where the bulb is.........so I can see it better in the day time. I wonder........has anybody else had this happen to theirs? And is my mech wrong....and it CAN be fixed?? (can this also be copied to an ABS thread please?)
Anyways, good luck with yours Ally.

Well easier and more probable solution is either the connection
To the parking brake switch is loose or the switch is just
Worn out...it is located on the left side just above the
Parking brake...a real bugger to get to.. but on mine
I can give the parking brake a couple taps with my left foot
And it will come on....
