Default 4x4 Astro van Guy, w/ lite mods

Great site you guys have here. The donor vehicle for my 4x4 electronic shift conversion was a '98S10 Blazer, so I have been looking up info on this site for a little while and decided to say hi. Lots of good info you here. Thanks.

I wanted a van for a kayak/mountain bike shuttle rig that I could use for overland camping. Something with more mobility than a full size rig, and more dependability than a VW Syncro (not to mention a lot more speed). So last year I bought an '03 AWD Astro van. Lifted it 4-5", went from stock24" tires to 30", so I changed to 4:10 gears with an Eaton posi, swapped out the AWD T case for the NP233c electronic shift. Also added a GTRV pop top with sleeper bunk. Camped in it 30 nights in '08, on 12 different trips. Really happy with the Chevy so far. Hope you guys don't mind too much having a mini van around here. Shares more than a few parts with the S10 Blazer, so...

Oops, sorry about the big pics. I read the rules last week and already forgot about resizing the pics. Most the other forums I frequent kinda rip on you if you don't put enough pics in your posts, so I guess I kinda got some bad habits. I'll watch that in the future.

Very nice, I been debating on putting a t-case out of a AWD astro or bravada in mine with a v8 for a toy.

Best of both worlds! 4WD off road capability and more interior cargo space than the Blazer for...ehem...camping.

Welcome. I could use that here in New Zealand.

At last, I keep reading about guys getting parts off an Astro to fit in their Blazers. i'e. trip computers etc. Now I know what they look like! Thanks man. LOL

I finished a 4x4 trail once and one of the Land Rover guysin our groupwas impressed and said,"Not bad for having a full sized bed and a mini bar in there!". Yeah, Baby!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Some nice looking Blazers on here, thats for sure.

Cheers.
