I've followed XJs with 4.5" lifts on 33s with my stock height blazer on 30s through some deep mud and intense terrain. They are capable trucks, just expensive to get parts for.

I love that rock hill! The first time I went on it was with a group of jeep guys and they were all "that thing wont make it up" and 10 min later they were proved wrong.

when my blazer was of the living it did pretty good off road. The thing that really holds back the blazer from doing some serious off roading is the torsion bars, there aren't many lift options in a good price range, and are really limited to 33" tires with 6 inches of lift. As for towing I really haven't towed anything but I have pulled some decent size trees and had over 1000 lbs in my trunk.

Overall I would rate the blazer as a decent trail trunk, does ok in the mud, struggles on rocks and steep hills. Especially with an open differential when you are in 4 wheel drive you are really only spinning two wheels. I have done off roading that pushed the limits of my blazer and a 2" lift. you can check my youtube (same as my username), flickr, and my build thread for an idea of what a blazer can do.

cherish your blazer the suv bread is slowly dying
