Default 2nd Gen door Interchange

I have a stupid question and maybe it's obvious but, I need to ask. The doors on my 2000 ZR2 are shot. The holes for the pins are egged from wear and I really don't want to take it to a body shop. So, there is a new "u pull it" yard in our area and they were having a 50% off sale. I went and picked up 2 nice doors From a 96 bravada for $55! Complete! Now, I went and put them on my truck and they work beautifully. Except for one thing. At the top edge of the door, there is a gap. It's almost as if some where between 1996 and 2000 GM "curved" the top of the truck just a fuzz more for some reason. Is there something I'm missing or are do I need to move up a few more years? Yes, I know that the door panels are different. That's ok. I like the bravada ones better. And yes, I know I have to swap the wiring harness. I'm more concerned about the door shell. Thanks.

I had to replace the back window and tailgate on mine a while back. I was surprised how poorly it fit to start with, I had to tweak the hinges to get it lined up. Both parts were pulled from the same year, trim and color blazer as mine. I'm thinking they must adjust parts to fit each vehicle individually.

There is no adjustment in any of the hinges. I had to pry on the tailgate hinges to get it adjusted. You may need the same adjustment for your door.

Success! I rolled the window down and gently pulled on the top of the frame until everything lined up. And in case anyone is wondering, the 1996 and 2000 door wiring harness's are not the same. Nor will a 2000 door panel work on a 1996 door. However, if you swap in the door latch from the 2000 and the wiring harness you only have to make one splice. The speaker. Two if you have the power mirrors. So, I have the nicer Bravada door panel with the wood grain inserts. If you don't mind the 4 door master switch, it will work. Otherwise you have to find a two door masterswitch from that year to get the bezel. So, I now have a 2000 chevy Bravada ZR2! Ha ha.
