Default Black Out Tail Lights

I want to black out my tail lights this weekend. Maybe just tint them darker. What should I use to hold up against the snowy and rainy weather? Thanks.

VHT Nite Shades is the most popular. That with some clear coat will do the trick. Just remember multiple thin coats works best. That will not only give you even coverage but allow you to control how dark you go.

Awesome!! I have seen a lot of stuff on that product, but I just want something that will last through the winter and rain. I would probably do one layer on the reverse lights and 2 coats on the tail lights.

I used it last year and its held up great. I had bought a spare pair of tail lights to do it with in case I wanted to switch back. This year I got an idea to paint in the bowties like a lot of guys have those taillight covers, so I did it for 5 bucks or so rather than blowing 40 and having them fade on me. Plastidip came out with a smoke product but ive seen some at the school i teach that just ran awkwardly, making it less smoky on top and dark on bottom (probably from just masking and spraying without removing the tail lights). Nightshades is the way to go so long as you prep properly.

There was a really good write up on tinting on a Tacoma forum just google tail light tinting Tacoma and you'll find it.

If I can I'll post pics of mine.. One has a slight crack but hey I got the set for 10 bucks.

I agree that smoked out tail lights look great but I hate when a vehicle has them in front of me on a nice sunny day. Some folks take them way too far.
