Default Question about my Street Scene Smooth Wiper Cowl.

Hello everyone, I have a Street Scene smooth wiper cowl that I bought a while ago, and was thinking about having it painted and put on sometime soon. The only problem is that a friend told me that I should not put it on, because it may damage my heater core. He said that my stock wiper cowl has those vents in it to cool down the heater core, and that if I put the smooth one which is completely covered (no ventilation), that it will cause the heater core to get damaged.

Is this true? If not, is there anything else that can get damaged by this?

I've never seen a smooth one, but what your friend is telling you makes sense. The vents are there for a reason, so I'm not sure putting an unvented cowl on there would be the best idea...

Then I guess I'm going to have to sell it. I know a lot of "show quality" S10s have them, and it looks really nice. But I'm not going to sacrifice performance (or normal functions) over looks. Especially in this cold weather in which when I started my truck this morning, the overhead console said it was 21 degrees. lol On top of that, I rather not go through the hassle of having to spend money to have that heater core replaced. I've already been through 2 of those, and it is not cheap. lol

Thanks for your advice and for also saving me some more headaches. lol

HAHAHA...vent the heater core. You realize it's in a sealed heater box already right? It's where fresh air for the ventilation system comes from.

So you're also saying that it's not a good idea to put it on?

Yeah, sell it to me for $50 so I can put it on my Blazer instead! I would trust Street Scene to engineer things so they work properly and don't cause issues.
