95 s-10 4X 4.3, it's overheating. I know i probably have air in the system. which is better DIY or tire and lube shop. Second, whats normal operating temp for this model. The therm was just replaced. but the thing is, the overheating is erratic at best. one minute 245-255 the next back down to 210. THe fan shroud is toast the bottom is missing completley and the top is cracked and broken. The air intake is much smaller than stock. Do i have alot of issues that all add up or are any of them more significant.

Replace both parts of the fan shroud (junkyard should work). They are needed to direct airflow to the radiator.
To burp the system lift the front end with the passenger side slightly higher, remove the radiator cap and run the engine to operating temp watching for air bubbles. Refill coolant as necessary, let the engine cool and repeat the cycle.
The thermostat should be a 195 degree model and the normal operating temp should read just a tick under 210 on the gauge.

Here is a reply Kyle made to another thread concerning that question:

The bottom shroud has tabs that fit into slots in the radiator tray on the core support. Once you have that installed, reinstall the fan and then the upper shroud.

I figured as much from looking at it. just wanted to make sure. God if you could see this thing. It was like someone just nailed it with a baseball back a couple of times.
