Default Oil pressure measurement

May i ask just what should be the reading on my dash's oil pressure gauge when engine is hot on my 1995 blaz.
At present when started from cold it goes up passed 275(ilde),when it is hot(20mins)
at idle it is in between the 4th&5th bars/ticks from '0'.
Hope that makes sense.
thx!

275? Are you sure you're looking at the oil pressure gauge and not the engine temperature gauge?

For certain i am looking at the right gauge, and yep 275 when cold.(275 is half ways up on the gauge,it goes down 1/4 of the gauge when hot.)
Is 1/4 on the gauge to low when at idle with engine hot? (10w30 motor oil)

is this like a canadian blazer in like kpa not psi? 275kpa is like 40psi I think which is lower than mine cold but its still plenty high to keep the engine lubed.

That's fine... You should have at least about 10psi of oil pressure for every 1000 rpm.

Portcqb:
Yes this is a crazy Kpa! I didn't know there were different calibrations between blazers.

Bandidolenny:
Thank you kindly for the reassurance.Having to move engine& etc to change a lousy oil pump is most insane!

If you show your 'location' in the 'user profile' questions like these can be answered more quickly.
