Default rear left hand side brake light

Have a problem with my rear brake light, on the left side. When I put my headlight on, the dam thing shorts out and there no brake light. Any ideas what could cause this or ideas how to fix it???

Corrosion... Pull the light and clean up the contacts in the light sockets.

have cleaned all the contacts, same problem. I've swapped the bulb with right hand one and the bulb is very dim. Think the whole connection needs replacing
