gm Corp 10 bolt 3.08 gears help
ok this is what im building
406 kit from coast high performance rated to 600 hp

scat rods 5.7"
10:1 compression pistons
195 cfm AFR heads 2.05 in 1.60 ex 75cc combustion chamber

Holly street avenger carb 770 cfm
Edelbrock Performer Air-Gap Intake Manifold
Msd Hei street fire dist and wires
700r4 trans
it should make around 500 hp and 550 torq (thats what i was told)
also i have a six inch skyjacker lift with springs all around
i want the truck to play in the mud and sand. its not a daily driver but i do want to take it out every now and then to go fishing, hunting or just a cruse around town with out having to spend 50 bucks for gas lol...
ok my axels are gm corp 10 bolt with 3.08 gears. how will they hold up
i want to run 38" tires if i add 4.10 gears will that help the axels. dose any one know what my rpm will be at 70 mph with 4.10 gears.
i have been trying to look for used 3/4 ton axels but cant find any and im running out of money building the 406, lift kit, tires, exc... so any input will be helpful
should i just add 4.10 gears to my axels or find 3/4 ton axels
Thanks for your comets

i had 373s and 38s and the rpms are pretty low. coming back from offroading one time i had some pace me at like 75 my rpms were at like 2600 you can go here and type in what trans, transfercase, gears, and tires you have and itll tell you rpms http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html
i bet that 10 bolt would probably explode the first time you punched it on the pavement with those tires. i know alot of people who break their rears with 35 inch tires and alot less horsepower. i was able to make mine last by going easy on the throttle.
with the sand and mud part of it that should be a little easier on the axles.

i dont plan on stomping on it at every corner, but i do want to get on it sometimes. Also i want to build it right. i dont want to have a nice truck that i cant drive cause its broke. what would you recommend. it dose not half to be the best stuff on the market. i just want it to hold up to the tires and hp. i dont know to much about axels. this is my first 4x4 truck project. Also not 1 ton axels cause i would half to get new springs right or that what i was told.
Thanks for the Link

you can run the same springs with 1 ton axles you would have to move the spring perches on the actual axle which just consists of cutting them off and moving or welding new ones on it. you can buy a 3/4 ton 14 bolt axle, which is the same as a 1ton just the perches will be where you need them.
i would just try it out and see how it holds up, ive ran 10 bolt for a while now with pretty good luck

Thanks for the info big84. I think I'm going to use the 10 bolts and see how they do.
