Default 3 button 4x4 problems

A few times when pressing 4hi all of the 4x4 lights just go off. I then replaced the button with one at pick n pull and it started working a lot more often. But when I tested 4x4 on a gravel road the light didn't work again and worked only after pressing 2hi then 4hi again, then I gunned it and knew it was working. 4lo usually works and actually flashes unlike 4hi, but I'm going to want 4hi to work every time this winter.

I tried putting dielectric grease on the transfer case control module and that made it work with the old button until the I shut off the engine again or after the next day I pressed it.

I had some issues with mine as well, it took a few things to fix it.
1. I had vacuum leaks and my front axle would not lock in.
2. The 4x4 computer which is located in the passenger side kick panel had a lot of corrosion in it, i unplugged it and cleaned everything really well and put it back together with dielectric grease.
3. The 4x4 switch on the dash had some bad solder joints, I took it out and re-soldered every joint on the back of the switch.

I would recommend starting with the computer in the pass. kick panel, than make sure that you don't have any vacuum leaks and that the front axle actuator under the battery is working properly when you hit the button.

I checked the vacuum actuator under the battery and it only seemed to go halfway in, then found a vacuum hose disconnected next to the abs controller. Hopefully it will work now.

The button thing is just really odd to me, cause I think they are supposed to flash and only 4lo does.

Do you have any pictures ? Not sure how different a 1995 4 door model over yours. But pictures could help me find my lines.
Thanks.

Default 2000 zr2

Trying to figure out what is wrong with my dads ZR2. Last winter he was in 4hi and tried to switch back to 2hi. The control panel 2hi button would only flash then the light would stay on 4hi. He finally got it to go to 2hi and now when you select 4hi it does nothing. Does anyone have a clue where I should start digging?

Have a look at this thread:
https://blazerforum.com/forum/1st-ge...results-87353/

This is an issue which the 1st-gen are infamous for. Get the DTC's first. Then you want to have a look at the links in the afore mentioned thread.
