i have a 2000 ZR2 and im wondering about the whole gear ratios topic thats going around...if it is possible i would like some info about gear ratios...ive been wondering if i could possibly change the gears in my ZR2 but dont know whats involved....plz inform me

I dont know too many details but I do know it's beyond the casual diy backyard mechanic (shims, specialized gauges etc) it's a pretty exact science from what i've been able to learn so far its either right or your doing it all over again (if your lucky you didnt trash your new gears doiing it wrong the first time) and keep in mind with 4wd when re gearing both front and rear must be done.

As a ZR2, you should have 3.73s stock. The only reason you should have to re-gear is if youre going above a 33' tire...but...at that point..id question your axle selection

what are the gears in a normal 4X4 LS blazer....i thought maybe i could switch to those to get better gas milage....i didnt really think the 3.73s were neccessary for just road driving. i dont take it off roading too often.

A quick google search would put more than enough information at your disposal.

As far as what gears a vehicle came with, the RPO codes tell it all. Just decode them.
