Default 3 simple tech questions, please help!

Hey guys, My 4wd actuator is shot, np I am converting to mech setup. I have 3 simple questions, please help me out.

1-) Why was the actuator filled with tranny fluid?

2-) the small vac line that goes to the actuator, comes from behind the motor, near dist, where does it go to??? it needs replacement as well.

3-) there is a 4 pin (yellow connector) metal box under the truck, mounted to crossmember thats extremely corroded. I want to replace it but dont know what it is called and what it does??

thanks!!!!!

1) The acuator has tranny fluid in it because the transfer case switch, which sits on top of the transfer case has failed allowing transfer case fluid into your vaccuum system.

2) See answer above.

3) Not a clue, would need more info to help.

Being as you have fluid in your system now, you need to change out all of your vaccuum lines, check your HVAC controls and make sure there is no fluid in the cansister. If you don't do it now you will wish you had when everything starts to fail later.

Thank you sir! I noticed there are 2 different types of transfer switchs, 1 has 3 ports the other has 1 connector/? At least this is what rock auto is showing.

3) things with yellow connectors is related to air bags. if this is on the front cross member *****BE VERY CAREFUL WHAT YOUR DOING******** this is the air bag impact sensor. make sure you disconnect the battery for at least ten mins and pull the airbag fuse if equip.
