Default rearend question

I noticed today while my truck was up on the stands that there is a little play in the axles. I can get about 1/16" of endplay between the axle & the rear housing. it's about the same on both sides. my parts truck also has some play, but it's more noticeable, closer to 1/8"

Is this normal gear play, or is there something worn out in the rear end?

A little info about the trucks would be helpful...ie year? model? etc.

A 1/16" ounds normal for a c-clip style rear axle. 1/8" is getting up there though.

sorry my bad. it's a 1995 jimmy SLT 4 door 4x4.

so a little play is normal & not to be too worried about? It freaked me out when I found the play on the parts truck; I thought the rear end was toast! and then I found play in the new truck, and I thought I was in for another nightmare...
