Unhappy Stuck in park

Still working on my 88 s10 4x4
My truck is currently stuck in park
I dropped my crossmember to drop down the trans pan
Inside looks good so im thinking the problem is lying in the steering colum
Ive been having this problem for a week or two
I would start the truck and tried to move the shifter and it wouldnt budge
Id get out
Rock the truck back and forth and then i was able to shift
Now its just stuck and wont shift at all
Anyone got a good idea what it could be?????😭😭😭😭

probably the bushings where the lever swivels on the frame are completely gone if the bracket itself isnt gone.

used to have a old k5 and even my 93 would do it, i just got sick of it and put a floor shifter in the s10

I wound up getting a new column for it...but my boss told me it might be the trans so i loosened the trans crossmember drain the fluid and put a new filter in
But pushing it into my shop it made this horrid knocking sound as i brought it in
The crossmember is still loose
Now im trying to figure out what that sound was
Any suggestions
