205/75r15 vs 235/75r15 ???
Hi Ya'll,
I bought my 1999 Blazer LS March 17, 2014 from a dealer with new 235/75r15's on her. But since am finding out that she should have 205's on her. Do you think this is causing diminished mpg?
Unless I can find someone that will give me a really good deal on a trade for these new tires, they only have about 140 miles on them, I can't afford to buy new ones.

It might hurt the milage a little bit, I would not worry about it too much.

I agree Blazer 98. It won't affect your mpg too much. Try to post on Trade Classifieds section to find someone who's willing to make a trade.

The Blazer's came with a variety of tire sizes depending on the package. I'm pretty sure that 235/75/15 was the biggest tire option available on the regular Blazers. 205/70/15 seems really small to me. Unless you have a good reason to change the tires, I wouldn't worry about them. If I understand the OP and the tires are basically new I personally would just stay with them.

did some googleing

youll be off 6% on your km's. It will be worse for mpg figures but alot of people run bigger than that. another thing to consider is theirs a lot more available for different sizes. Maybe when the ones you have get worn keep an eye for a happy median 235-70-15, but for now remember when the jerk in front is doing just under the limit on the highway its really you speeding

i dont think that you truck came stock with 205's. that doesnt even sound right. if it wasnt 11 at night right now, i would go outside and check my 2wd just to make sure. i have 2 98 blazers and they both have 235/75r15 on them. the speed-o on the 2wd is off a hair. but it does have 280,xxx miles on it. my 4wd has about 115.xxx on it and it is spot on. just check the door pillar and it will tell you what came stock on your truck.

Chevy Blazer Tire Sizes
Our 96' came with 235/75r15's(I'm sure y'all know to look on the driver's door panel for size). On my 96 'xj cherokee I went from the oem 205's to 235's. Noticed a bit of power and mileage loss. I wouldn't want a taller tire than the 235(29"). Can't see how some guys run 31's and up on stock gearing.

HOLY NECRO THREAD!
Wrong on both counts.
In the case of a P235/75R15 tire...
235 is the section width in millimeters. The section width is the widest dimension of the tire typically relating to the sidewall bulge, not the tread width. Nothing to do with thickness...
75 is the aspect ratio. Aspect ratio is the relation between sidewall height and the section width, specifically the sidewall height divided by the section width. It is used to determine the sidewall height by multiplying the aspect ratio by the section width and dividing by 100. Nothing to do with the width of the tire...
