1986 S-10 Blazer, Hood Hinge Seal
How do I install the hood hinge seals on my 1986 S-10 Blazer? The new ones I received are nothing like the old one that fell apart. These new ones are bigger, all one piece, and have "sticky stuff" on one side. Does this side go down? There is also a pad that matches the shape of the seal, but does not have an opening for the hinge. Does it go on top of the hinge, or below.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I truly have no idea what you are talking about.

That's because you have a 2000 Blazer. The Hood Hinge Seal is in the 1st generation (1983-1994). Raise the hood, look at the bottom of the hinge on both sides. There is a gaslet (for lack of a better term) that goes around the opening where the hood honge retracts when the hood is closed. This Gasket keeps water from leaking in behind the front seat kick panels. I'm thinking it was a design flaw that GM put a "bandaid" on. When these seals get old and dry out they crumble and crack.
After removing the cowl and a bit of headscratching I was able to get them installed. WHEW! Not a hard job just tedious.
