1987 K5 Siverado tailgate window/ motor ?
Hello -
I am brand new to the group so I hope I am doing this correctly and in the right place. I love this site. I have restored an 86 GMC sierra classic and just finished a 1987 Blazer. Of course this didn't happen overnight. My question is:
The rear window/ tailgate motor was weak so I replaced it with a rebuilt one from O'Reilly's. I also replaced the window guides and both of the top seals and of course adjusted the tailgate so that it would open properly.
Once I installed the new one I noticed that it does work but very, very slowly. It works great when the inside and outside top seals are removed. I know even when these were new they were slow. My question is does it take a certain period of time to break the seals in and can it be done without burning up the motor? The good news is that it does have a lifetime warranty. I have not checked the ground which I read on the forum and probably need to do that. I did grease everything in site. Any help or direction would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. raider

sometimes with old age everything comes out of alignment. i had a 85 where if i fully locked the tailgate the window wouldnt go up all the way, i had to only click it once. to be able to close the back glass.
