1988 S-10 Blazer 355 V8 window speedo and trans and ac problems
I just bought a old drag truck with 355 small block and a locking rear diff (i think? when i turn i can hear the tire skid like it spinning at the same speed). There are a few things i would like to fix and or change.
It has some kind of drag trans in it ( i think a 350 with a shift kit) and i would like to make it able to drive on the free way with out sitting at to high of a rpm so i was wondering what would the best trans to get for it that would go down the free way but still put you in your seat and hold up to the house power.
the passenger window is a power window and at the moment its up and wont go do nether the drivers button or passenger button will make it go down when you push up on them it makes a click noise but its up already i cant figure out how to get the motor out of the door ether the drivers window works great.
Also im guessing cuz the trans isn't from this truck its making the speedo wrong i was wondering if there was any way to make it read the right speed so i wont get a ticket.
Is there a way i can get some kind of electric ac or hook up an ac thats going to work as good as a stock one or should i just have the ac put back on if possible.
i would love any help i could get on this
thanks

The skidding of the tire sounds like they welded the rear end possibly. For the high rpms it may not be the trans,if its set up for drag they might have some insane gears in the rear diff.and with it being a 3 speed thats not going to help the rpms either. My old truck with a 400 turbo would turn 3200 rpm at 70. thats with highways gears too! Another possibility is it might have a powerglide trans. which only has i think 2 gears...
Oh and if you are not sure if you have the 350 tranny, look on the passenger side on the trans. You will see a little gold colored modulator with a line hooked to it. Look and see if its on the rear of the trans,or the side towards the front. if its the rear its a 350,if its on the side its a 400 trans. if it doesnt have either look on the drivers side of the trans and find the plug that plugs into the trans. is it square?
