85 S10 Blazer battery light

Hey all!

A few weeks ago, my battery light and buzzer came on while I was driving and scared the crap out of me. I had everything checked out. Alternator and starter were fine, but I needed a new battery. Once replaced, the light was still on. The guys that put the battery in said that the plug on top of the alternator was cracked and the wires looked pretty rough, so I replaced that last weekend.

The battery light is still on constantly, and the buzzer chatters unless I turn the dash lights off. Obviously, this is not a problem during the day, but at night I can't see my dash unless I'm listening to that stupid buzzer.

I'm takin' her to the shop again tomorrow for some other work and plan to ask them what else could be wrong. I'm just looking for some other ideas.

I kinda wonder if you just have a dash issue. Maybe a bad ground in the dash making the volt gauge go off. If it was my beater I would pull the buzzer and buy a external volt gauge instead of paying a shop. Check the ground. Should be located in the bottom left of the dash. I had mine go loose on me before

Do you happen to have a picture of where that is?

Don't think so... I'm workin now so don't have access to the truck. Its a small chance but ya never know. You can't really miss it. On my 83 it was just at the very front bottom left of the dash so if you kneeled down outside the truck and looked at that corner you will see a bolt with a wire going to it.

Boy, if you said you hadn't already replaced the battery, I'd say that's the problem. Had the same issue with my 84 Jimmy and the battery was shorted internally. Just for the heck of it, I'd have it checked for a short. You never know about some of the stuff you get nowdays.
