Default 88 s10 blazer 4x4 engaging on its own.

Im having a problem with the 4x4 trying to engage itself in 2wd, when i slow down and come to a stop. The front axle display light blinks and i can hear the front end trying to engage. This all started when i used the 4x4 and then back to 2wd. Thanks for any suggestions!

Sounds like you have a leaking vacuum switch on the transfer case that is allowing engine vacuum to pull on the front axle engagement actuator when it is in 2HI. The line to the actuator should be vented when in 2HI.

Hello Swartlkk I have a question,im about to take off the vacuum switch and was wondering if the 3 hoses have to go back on the switch the same way?Does the switch know when to pull off each hose?

They have to go back on in the same locations, but the connector that the lines go into should be keyed. They are arranged as follows as viewed looking at the switch itself:

The black rectangle is the 'key' that prevents the installation of the connector onto the switch in the wrong orientation.
