Default 94 Blazer transfer case

I have a 94 Blazer and the transfer case seems to be stuck partially in low range. There's a loud grinding noise, and top speed is about 5. It won't go into high range or 2wd. Is there a way to manually disengage the transfer case ?
Thanks

This happened on my 93, but I don't know if they changed the design for the newer bodystyle... under the battery, you will see a round vaccum ball..disconect the main line going to the ball and plug it. This disengages the front diff. Then, take the switch out of the dash, and check for a bad connection. If none of these work for you, it may be a problem with the motor that switches the transfer case between 2 and 4 wheel drive. If you hear grinding, it may be that the motor is stuck between gears. Lightly tap the motor with a hammer while someone pushes the 2wd button at the same time. Give that a try, I hope it helps

Thanks, it's something to try. If nothing else I need to be able to drive it to a junkyard. When it got to where repairs were a constant thing I kind of gave up on this one. I bought a 2000 Blazer 3 weeks ago.
By the way, the 94 was the last of the old style so your directions are probably fine.

It looks like the problem is the switch. I checked Autozone and discount and they don't carry them.
