Default Broken Intake Manifold Stud '85 Blazer

Well, looks like one of the intake manifold studs broke when my Pops was doing the reinstall. The stud has been removed but now I am in search for a replacement. I will probably just end up replacing them all. I've started searching with no luck. Anybody have a lead or a prefered site?

Just go take one off any old 305/350 in the junkyard and stick it in your pocket. You will prolly be able to find those engines alread torn down with the intakes off, so just remove the stud you need, or if its bolt style then the bolts are prolly on the ground beside the truck with no intake. Clean it up with a wire wheel, and voila! new stud/bolt. My 85 350 has about 10 bolts that hold the intake on, they are all the same legnth, about 1.25 inches, and if I had to guess they are a 3/8 coarse thread bolt. should cost you a couple bucks at the hardware store.

The engine it has might help. The 4 bangers and 2.8 uses metric crap and rather hard to find sometimes, the 4.3 and v8s use standard and can be found anywhere.

Thanks guys for the replies. I'd rather buy new to prevent any old studs from breaking again. I have the 2.8L and Neo is correct that the studs are Metric. If there are no other suggestions I might have to try the hardware store.

I would skip hardware stores and look in the yellow pages for fastener supply houses. Most of the time you get better parts and better prices with a wider selection.

There are places that sell weird and hard to find bolts. You just have to locate one. The one out here went out of busines§
