Default Heater/HVAC Problems

Hello everyone this is my first post. I got my car about 6 months ago and haven't had any problems until now. I have a 1992 Chevy Blazer 1500 Full Size. Last night I had problems where my Heater/HVAC blows every fuse that I put in within 30 seconds. Any ideas what it can be? Anything I can do myself without taking it to the shop?

Sounds like there is a short in the system somewhere, are you able to use the heater and fans for that 3o seconds, or does turning on the fans pop it instantly? I would start by checking for broken wires at the heater motor under the hood and follow them to where they enter the cab, maybe the gromet is worn and allowing the wires to chafe in the firewall where its metal. Its about 8 inches round with a wireplug coming off it, and will be on the passenger side firewall. Do the same check of the wires from your AC pump plugs and anywhere else on your HVAC system you can see the wires. You are looking for the wire coating worn through and making contact with some metal somewhere. If you find it, just put some heatshrink over that spot to reinforce that area, and try to route the wire a little differently so that it cant rub through anymore.

You can also try unplugging those plugs at the AC pump, and heater motor, and see if that keeps the fuse from blowing on you to narrow down which system is having the short in it.

try those tests and come report back to us with what you find out.
