Install and level torsion bars and keys process?
I'm in the process of rebuilding the front end on my 94 blazer. I have the torsion bars out and the new control arms installed.
What is the process for installing the keys on the torsion bars?
I did the opposite of how I installed them and was just going to measure the shank on the bolt that sticks in the wedge part to get them as close to even as possible.
I lifted the lower control arm up as high as I could (I slid a floor jack under it when I removed the torsion key) slid it over the hex part of the bar, installed bolts in the control arm bushings, slid the torsion bar into they key. I then put the clamp on the key, installed the bar in the slot and tightened the bolt as close to where it was originally.
Is this the right way, if not what am I doing wrong?

There are measured heights that are used to set the height. The tension on torsion bars are adjusted using the bolts to set the height to the specifications. I've attached an excerpt from my 1999 GM manual that describes how to set the height.

Thanks for that, that was a big help.
Now when putting the torsion bars back into the keys and lower control arm, where do the control arms sit? Do I leave them all full drop, do I bounce the car, then lift it, then throw the bars into the keys?

Glad it was a help. Regarding installing the torsion bars, I've never done that. Maybe someone else knows? If I find some information, I'll post it.
