Default Need Help ASAP with my 1991 blazer!!

Ok let me start by saying im new here lol...
I just picked up a 1991 blazer that was collecting dust from a family member. I had the car tuned up and ready to go, as I was getting into my car tuesday I noticed my dash lights werent coming on so i thought maybe a fuse went out or something.. I also heard a noise coming from the motor what it was I wouldnt be able to tell you it wasnt that loud, when i was driving on the highway i smelled something burning so I figured let me pull over and check as I went to pull over the car just shut off on me.. Any idea what this could be? I opened the hood and smelled something burning but no smoke didnt smell like oil, coolent or anything like that, maybe a wire? fuse? So when i try to turn on the car it gives me a crank and thats it. The battery has power all the lights and everything are bright. Any ideas?

i'm no expert or anything but off the top of my head if it wont crank make sure all your belts are intact. if it was gathering dust long enough they might have broken or snapped or whatever it is beltsdo. you said you didnt smell anything but you might want to check your hoses also. if you had it tuned up were brakes and tires checked? like i said no expert and only in high school but it cant hurt to check right? if nothing obvious jumps out at you i'd start at the key and work my way forward trouble-shooting. just my opinion.
good luck

Maybe badignition coil, orthe fuel pump. Just a guess. Try turning the key over to the position before ignition for a few seconds before trying to crank, then try. I've heard that sometimes it helps. I just did a tune up on my 95 and missed a connection to the IC that caused that exact problem. Also read another post with same thing. If it's like mine, and yours needs to be changed, you'll need to get a machine shop to drill out the rivets to replace it more than likely.
