Default New owner could use some help....

I've searched around and I've looked, I haven't had very much luck.

How do I know what engine I have? I have a 94 4x4 with the 4.3 vortec
I have a rough start and rough idle. Where is the egr located and what are the locations of any other sensors I should clean or replace?
My oil pan is leaking. I read that the engine has to be raised up to replace the gasket. Is this true? The thread didn't say year or engine the guy was replacing said gasket so I was kind of lost.

I've looked around and have been looking. Most of the info I find doesn't have any sort of reference picture or the thread is no longer there.

My new vehicle is in great shape for the year, it was well taken care of other than minor wear and tear. I have to rebuild the front end due to sloppy steering and fix the rough idle. Other than that it is great. I even have the factory key with the remote that still works!

Thanks. Any links or input helps!

Welcome to the blazerforum. Can you describe your make and model. 94-95 were transition years with many changes.

VIN?

On the 94's there should be the engine tag on top of the support for the alternator. It's riveted to the support.

It may read LB4 or xxx. To make sure:

LB4 is the TBI version and mounts kind of a carburettor style air filter element on top of the TBI which looks like a carb.
The other version has a different layout and no airfilter on top of the engine but the rounded intake ducts you can see on top.

Look in the glove box for the sticker with all of the option codes (RPO codes) along with the VIN. There are decoders on line for telling what you have.
