problem with starting
I have a 1987 s10 blazer 4x4 with a 2.8. It runs great but when you shut it off it wont start. I charge it for about 1 min and it starts right off. I had the alternator tested at zone but it teasted fine. They tested the system and it said it was a bad battery. I replaced the battery and it does the same thing. I replaced the wire from the alternator to the battery and it didnt help. Any ideas would be appretiated.

RE: problem with starting
My friend's Jeep is doing the same thing with the same results as you. She replaced the starter, the wiring harness for the battery, still no luck. We have to roll start it. I'll keep you updated on what they find out since it might also solve your problem.

RE: problem with starting
I had mine looked at and one of the wires from the top of the alternator is not feeding power to the alternator.

RE: problem with starting
finaly figured it out. somewhere between the gauge and fuse box was a short, just bypassed the gauge and all better.
