Default Stripped Caliper Guide Bolt Fix

I bought my truck with stripped steering knuckles where the caliper bolt screws into. You can use an oversized bolt as a temporary fix, but eventually the threads will not longer hold.

Searched everywhere for the correct helicoil kit for the 1st Gen trucks. I installed this weekend in about 15 minutes.

Heli-Coil 55287 7/16-20 Kit

This is the correct kit. You will also need a 29/64 bit to drill the hole clean.

The kit does also NOT come with a tap handle but I screwed it in with a pair of adjustable vise grips.

I know this is a few years old now, but wanted to say thank you. Saved me a lot of searching. Just discovered this problem on my 94.
