Default Transmission filter

I'm fairly certain that the transmission filter needs changed on my 94 S10 Blazer 4 by 4. The first morning it was below freezing it struggled to back up and then simply quit backing up. Went forward ok. I drove it around the block to warm it up and reverse worked. My question is: the parts store shows filters for deep and shallow pans. Anyone know the depth dimensions of the two pans?
Thanks
Bill

I can give you a hand on this. Not sure what type of tranny you have. But if it`s the 4L60E ?It has to sizes.2 1/4 for the normal smaller pan.The other size is what you call deep pan is 2 7/8.I have a 2001 LS Blazer with the overdrive 4l60e which has the deep pan 2 7/8.The pan is 2 1/4 infront (facing the engine) then it increases into 2 7/8.It`s actually 3 " but they call it 2 7/8.Look up (Summit racing .com) they have alot of name brand options to choose from. Not just crappy Ac Delco crap.

The tranny should have a small 2x1/2" aluminium tag with numbers on it.
This should identify the tranny beyond doubt.

While I think that the 94 4x4 only comes with the one type of 4L60E Toocute350 has mentioned.

I just bought both, compared them to the one I took out and returned the other one. On my 2001 it ended up being the shallow filter.

You have a 4L60E trans and it's a shallow pan filter. Shallow filter body is about 1" thick, and the deep filter body is about 2" thick. The 4L60E went to the deep pan about '97.
