Default What is killing the 4WD switch ?

I bought a 94 Blazer 6 month ago.
The former owner had replaced the 4WD switch, just before I bought it.
When I push the 4 Hi, nothing happens.
I will try to replace the 4WD switch.

What is killing the 4WD switch ?

This would be much easier for me, if you all learned to speak Norwegian

Does it light up when the vehicle is started?

Wow, a perfect norwegian sentence.
But, "Sorry, I don't speak norwegian" don't help me much. LOL

Are you sure the switch is the problem.
Pull the switch out and pop it apart. If its not broken inside the switch then something else is wrong.

I talked with the former owner today.
It seems like the problems he had with the 4WD were different form the problems I've got now.
Before he replaced the switch, the 4WD did'nt work at all.
So I guess it must be something else ( not the switch )
I don' know were to start. Any suggestions ?

Ok I just got a 98 blazer and when I went to put it in 4 wheel drive, it would not go in at first, the light would flash you would hear the clicking noise but nothing would happen then when it would decide to go in I could not get it back out, then it started switching into 4 hi and back to 2 wheel drive on it's own. Turned out it was the acuator sp? switch... (Dont know if that is right spelling)....... well then a few months later the 4x4 wasnt working AGAIN come to find out the wire was kinked, I guess one of the wires is real short and can get caught up on something...... So maybe check the wires on the that switch.. Hope that helps.

My problem :

I tried to get it into 4 high with a broken generator and a bad battery a while ago.
I bought a new battery and replaced the generator.
Now I can shift into 4 low in neutral, but it will not shift into 4 high at all.

Solution :

I removed the TCCM fuse for 2,5 minutes, turned the ignition on and off 5 times ( to the RUN position) within 30 sec.
This will reset the main vehicles computer.
Everything is ok now.

Explanation :

While the transfer case is shifting, the position encoder switch inside the electric shift motor is monitored for the proper operating sequnce. If the improper sequence is detected more then 25% of the time, a code 2 will be set. If a code 2 has been set the TCCM reverts to a default mode in which only 2HI and 4LO are possible.

I had the same problem late last year. I had to get brand new TCCM at the dealer.

I may get a [color=blue]posi lok[color=black] if the cable to the front diff gives me any BS. Not only will I know its DEFINATELY engaged, I will have 2low in the rear.

Hmm, I wonder if I can get a front tire up in the air in 2low?
