Default Wire up push button start w/switch

Recently my ignition became stuck in the "on" possition, and will not turn off.

I want to just bypass the ignition and hook up a toggle switch for the accessories and a push button for the starter.

I have never done this before and was hoping someone here has and could tell me what I need to do (in detail, if it isnt to much trouble), or could point me to a place that has the information I am looking for.

Thanks in advanced for any help/information!

That might be helpful for a general overview of how to do it but it is a dodge and you got a chevy

what does it matter what car it is. Same thing for 99 percent of cars on the road.

Make sure you know what you are talking about before you make comments. lol

Well I was mainly looking for a how-to on how to do it to my jimmy I have the general idea on what needs to be done but the problem is I am not sure which wires or how to get to said wires.

My guess is that I have to take the steering wheel off and remove the old ignition which would reveal the wires needed.

Remove the panels under the wheel so that you can have access to the main plugs on the column. Here is some information on what wires are there. It might help to loosen the 2 15mm (I think) nuts that hold the column up to get to the plugs.

Cool, thanks!

So this is what im guessing...

On the toggle switch I will have the following:
SIDEA: Accessory Orange wire
SIDEB:Constant 12V Red wire

And the following hooked to the push button:
SIDEA: Starter Yellow wire
SIDEA:Ignition Pink wire
SIDEB:Constant 12V Red wire

I am not sure if I need to have a ground wire...and if so where does it need to be

I'm trying to seach and see what to do. I would think that the ignition is going to have to be on with the toggle switch. The push button should only activate the starter.

Yea I think you are correct about that...when I first typed that reply I had that on the toggle switch but changed it.

Couple sites here. 1 & 2

I'm thinking something like this. I've never done this before.
On the toggle switch:
SIDEA: Accessory & Ignition Orange wire & Pink wire
SIDEB:Constant 12V Red wire
So when the switch is on, contact is made to activate and turn on the accessory and ignition.

And the following hooked to the push button:
SIDEA: Starter Yellow wire
SIDEB:Constant 12V Red wire
So when the switch is pressed it cranks the starter.

I don't think you will need to ground. Now go out and try it =)
