1985 S10 2.8l V6 Throttle Issues

Okay so I recently purchased my blazer and was on the way to take it to the shop today for valve cover gaskets and I had to stop to throw some oil in it. It usually is a little noisy when I cold start it but it seemed a little noisier than before, so I figured It might need some. Well then when I turned the truck back on and hit the gas the throttle stuck, I shut it off and checked the throttle cable, and the cable seems to be coming back to where it should be. What should I check next? It only sticks at about 5mph but it idles high then. If I shut it off and restart it, it will idle fine, until I press the pedal, then it idles high again. I had one person tell me that my cams are shot and to get a new motor, and another person telling me it could be something with the vacuum lines or the carb might be stuck. I'm not sure. Never had a carb'd motor before. Any help would be much appreciated.

Just a heads up to anyone if this ever happens to them, I figured it out. It was the throttle cable froze solid because of the weather. Warmed it up for about an hour, sprayed it down with WD-40, and it runs great!
