1993 Blazer

Hi everyone! Great site, it's helped me out alot. I have a problem with my mom's 1993 blazer vortec. Sometimes the thing won't start? It just turns over and over and when it runs, it's a dime! Very clean blazer BTW. I checked for spark and nothing? Now here's where it gets tricky. It has a new fuel pump, all new distrubiter, coil, new cat, the spiter system in the plenum seems to be fine, our mechanic can't find nothing wrong with it and personally I'm done with him! It wouldn't start the other day? When i tried to fire it up, nothing! No spark, just cranking. NOW, for some reason i pushed down on the Pressure Relefe Valve behind the plenum and some gas sprayed out. I turned the key right after and it fired up no problem. I can hear the fuel pump turn for a few seconds when the key is turned on. Any help would be awesome. My father has recently passed and my mom is always so worried to go out and it's driving me nuts that this problem cant be found!!!

Thanks

Did you install the fuel pump? Do you know what brand was installed? Aftermarket pumps just don't work well in these trucks. AC Delco or Delphi only.

How have you been checking for spark?

Hi, No the mechanic installed the pump. I believe it came from lordco. I remember him saying that he had to sauder on the wires because the harness didn't match up? I checked for spark by putting a screwdriver in the spark plug wire and holding it close to the exhaust manifold. Should i have checked from the dist???

Thanks swartlkk

Try messing with the red and blue wires that poke out of the intake down to the right of your EGR valve, they probably have an eroded rubber gromet on them that sticks to the top of the injector inside the intake. Wiggle em around and see if it helps, or stalls out the engine. If it makes a difference, you have found your problem.

I am a recent victim of the cheap fuel pump lesson. I can tell you that your best bet for fuel pump brands is the Delphi or AC Delco. The higher price you will pay is worth the reliability and peace of mind.
