1st Gen blend door
Is there a 1st Gen blend door how to? Maybe off site some where? My 94 blazer (manual controls) is stuck in full hot mode..would like to fix that b4 summer....
|
Not much hope. I own a 94 and have had a look at that one to fix the joint all around the door.
It will end with me removing the dash in order to properly access all the HVAC stuff. Once there I'll see to how to fix the dash in a way it can be removed quickly. Also some modifications to the HVAC I have in mind. Can work through the radio opening and through below the passenger side of the dash. Still a nightmare to get there. |
Interestingly my factory service manual suggests my blend door is cable operated.. not with a motor... Now I'll have to look closer
|
That is correct,
The cable runs from the lever at the instrument cluster down below the radio and above the HVAC to roughly the right side of the middle console where the doors actuator is. A simple pulley. The coiled outer sleeve of the actuator cable (bowden type like on bicycles) sometimes get loose. |
well that sounds promising.. like I don't have to tear the dash out to fix it promising :)
|
Good luck. I have fixed it once by accessing through the radio panel after removing the radio.

If you don't have any luck, you could always by pass the heater core. Either with a 90, or U shaped fitting to loop the coolant lines, or there is a vacuum actuated bypass valve you can install. I've got one sitting on the bench that I've been meaning to install for a while.
Here's one of the threads over on S10Forum that discusses the by-pass valve if you're interested. https://www.s10forum.com/threads/how...ac-mod.412746/ |
