4.3 radiator help
 

Hello fellows, it never fails you fix something and something else breaks. Long story short, I just replaced the rad drain plug/cock and there is what looks a shaft underneath where the plug screws into. Is there supposed to be a hose attached or should there be a plug for there also?

No, nothing is supposed to be connected. If coolant is coming out of the nipple, the valve is not closed all the way.

Thanks for all your help swartlkk, I appreciate it. Heres is one thing I was wondering about, the drain plug is plastic and it broke on the knob so the rest of the plug stayed inside the rad. I tried to remove it without having to take the rad out so it broke and fell inside the rad. It's not that big of a piece, do you think I could have any problems down the road with that piece being in the rad?

It is likely that it would be sucked into the engine where it may cause problems with either the pump or the thermostat. If it were on the driver side of the radiator, I would say do not worry about it.

It is on the drivers side, thanks, now I can sleep a little better.

Yes, it's a 94 Bravada and the drain plug is infact on the drivers side. She ran fine today, no problems.

Well, that would explain it.. No reference to what it was you were driving and I was just thinking of the later 2nd gens.
