4.3 TBI Engine oil quantity

I have a 2 doors 1989 S10 Blazer Sport 4WD 4.3L TBI.
Every time I change oil (with filter change) I put 4.5 quarts in it.
Last week, my brother took it for oil and filter change, and the guy put 5 quarts in it and assured my brother that it was the right quantity.
The problem is that since I bought it, I had my doubts about the dipstick. I'm not sure it's the original one.
Can anyone tell me what's the right quantity? Maybe then I can mark the right level on the dipstick (if it's not the original one).

Well than manual says 4.5 quarts. If you put 4.5 in, it will look a little low on the dipstick. At the dealership i work at i will usually put 4.7 quarts in. Thats when it looks full on the dipstick. So really its up to you. You will be fine anywhere between 4.5 and 5 quarts. Putting 5 quarts in wont hurt anything.

I put about 4.5 quarts in mine also, but have forgotten and poored the hole thing in haha. My question is how often do you need to do an oil change every 3000 miles or every 6000?

Is 4.5 quarts with or without the filter change? And how much if I'm not changing the filter?

Well, it depends on what type of oil you use! Full synthetic or half or regular, and your driving style (average RPM, distance between stops (trips)), ambient temperature, new or old oil filter (2nd or 3rd change), ...
But never under 3000 miles

Just dump a 5 qt jug in it and be done. It'll be a tiny bit overful, but with it being a 89 im pretty sure its gonna burn and leak a lil bit. Ive done it to all of my blazers and never had issues.

I got a certificate in the mail yesterday from ford saying i won a monthly drawing and got a free synthetic blend oil change and tire rotation. I still need to call em and see if its legit. I do remember signing up for some ford drawing months ago. hmm

Thats with a filter change. Without it depends on what size filter you use. If its factory ACdelco PF52 size then i would say around 4.25 quarts. If its a shorter aftermarket one I would say 4.4ish.
